Steven Randall
A results-driven strategist with over 20 years of experience, Steven has held executive roles across multiple companies, driving successful $100MM+ exits. With expertise in operations management and scaling high-performance teams. Steven has consistently delivered transformative results, guiding businesses through rapid growth and strategic pivots.
As the founder of Ooblek, he leverages his hands-on leadership style to empower businesses to optimize operations, mitigate risks, and achieve lasting success. This allows businesses to navigate complex challenges, streamline operations, and unlock sustainable growth. His leadership has transformed organizations, driving both short-term results and long-term strategic success. His approachable leadership style fosters collaboration, ensuring alignment across all levels of the business, while his vision and ability to anticipate future market trends empower organizations to stay ahead of the curve.
The name of the firm is deliberate. Ooblek — the Seussian substance that behaves like both a solid and a liquid — is a useful metaphor for the businesses Steven works with. They need structure, but also the ability to move. Rigidity breaks things. Chaos wastes them. The job is knowing which one you're dealing with at any given moment.
Steven's operating philosophy runs on three rails: people, processes, and performance. In his experience, people are the largest and most underestimated variable in business outcomes. Processes matter — but only when they're built to serve the people executing them, not the other way around. Bloated, bureaucratic systems slow teams down and quietly kill momentum. Ooblek's work — across fractional COO and CSO engagements, growth strategy, change management, HR consulting, and leadership development — is about building operating systems that actually get out of the way and let good people do good work.
Outside of his professional work, Steven enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with his two beloved rescue dogs, Kai and Kona. An avid explorer of both new cuisines and off-the-beaten-path destinations, he brings the same spirit of curiosity, precision, and intentionality to his personal life as he does to business. Beyond his entrepreneurial and strategic endeavors, Steven is deeply committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of others. He actively supports causes and research initiatives focused on Fragile X syndrome and Autism—advocating for greater awareness, early intervention, and continued scientific progress to improve outcomes for individuals and families affected by these conditions. He proudly supports Surfers Healing Folly Beach, Surf Rider Foundation, National Fragile X Foundation, Lucky Pup Rescue and Warrior Surf Foundation.
